Exciting Updates in Pokémon Masters EX: The Academy Event Best Buddies Program

DeNA continues to enhance the Pokémon Masters EX experience with frequent updates, introducing new events and features to keep players engaged and entertained. The latest addition is the Academy Event Best Buddies Program, running from August 4, 2025, at 11:00 p.m. to August 22, 2025, at 10:59 p.m. This event is set in the lively atmosphere of Pasio Academy, where beloved characters like Iris and Brendan are embarking on a trial enrollment journey.

Exploring the Academy Event

The Academy Event is designed to strengthen Academy Sync Pairs, allowing players to enhance their skills and abilities through various challenges. This time around, the spotlight is on the 5★ Brendan (Academy) and his partner, Marshtomp, who are both pivotal to the event’s storyline. Players will encounter a diverse array of Trainers as they strive to become the top Sync Pair at the academy.

One of the key features of this event is the opportunity to elevate Academy Sync Pairs to a new level, specifically 6★ EX. Players can unlock an EX Role for these Sync Pairs, which opens up even more strategic possibilities during battles. To achieve this, specific items are required, which can be collected throughout the event.

Unique Stories and Adventures

Each Academy Event presents exclusive stories that enrich the gameplay experience. This particular event features four unique narratives that players can discover:

  1. Iris’s Secret
  2. Sewing and Chatter
  3. Gym Leaders Can Be Students
  4. School Song Committee

These stories unfold randomly during the event, encouraging players to explore and enjoy the rich lore of the Pokémon universe. Make sure to check them out as they offer a deeper connection to the characters and their experiences at the academy.

Maximize Your Lineup Bonuses

To maximize efficiency during the event, players can earn additional exclusive Sync Orbs by including featured Sync Pairs in their battle lineups. The more of these Sync Pairs you incorporate into your team, the greater the rewards you can reap. It’s important to note that the lineup bonus starts at ×1 and can vary based on the combination of Sync Pairs used. For example, having a ×1.5 and a ×2.0 Sync Pair will yield a ×2.5 bonus for featured items.

Featured bonus items that players can collect include:

  • Fiery Orb
  • Leafy Orb
  • Bubbly Orb
  • Sparky Orb

Employing strategic combinations of Sync Pairs can significantly enhance your ability to gather these items.

New Stamina Tickets for Extended Gameplay

To ensure players can fully enjoy the Academy Event, DeNA has introduced new Stamina Tickets. These tickets can be exchanged for Stamina in the Exchange Items menu, allowing players to engage in more battles and activities. It’s worth noting that any unused Stamina Tickets will convert into coins after the exchange period closes, so it’s advisable to utilize them wisely.

If your Stamina exceeds the maximum limit of 999, the additional Stamina will be temporarily stored in your Present Box for a limited time. Be sure to keep track of its expiration, as any unclaimed Stamina will be forfeited after 24 hours.

Event Mechanics and Gameplay

Academy Events are structured to provide an engaging way to strengthen Academy Sync Pairs. Players can participate in these events repeatedly during the specified event period, enabling them to refine their strategies and get the results they desire. Each Academy Sync Pair is trained using exclusive Sync Grids, and during the Academy Experience, only one Sync Grid can be applied for upgrades.

At the beginning of the Academy Event, players will partner with an Academy Sync Pair. Initially, these pairs may not perform optimally in battles, but as players progress and activate their Sync Grid tiles, their effectiveness will increase. Strengthening your Sync Pair is essential for upcoming battles, so be proactive in developing their skills.

Collecting Sync Orbs

The exclusive Sync Orbs required for upgrading Academy Sync Pairs are a highlight of the event. These orbs can only be obtained during the event itself, with the type and quantity varying based on the area information provided. Players are encouraged to engage with different area info during their twelve rounds of the Academy Experience, as some areas offer larger quantities of these valuable orbs.

Additionally, special Sync Orbs known as TM Orbs allow Sync Pairs to learn new moves. These are crucial for developing a well-rounded team to tackle the various challenges presented in the event.

Special Exam Challenges

Midway through the event, players will encounter a midterm exam in round 6, followed by a final exam in round 12. These unique one-on-one battles are exclusive to Academy Sync Pairs and cannot be replayed, making it essential to prepare adequately. If you disconnect or exit during these battles, it will count as a defeat, meaning no rewards will be granted.

Once you successfully complete an Academy Experience, you will be awarded Custom ★ Power-Ups for your Academy Sync Pairs. These can be used to further enhance your Sync Pairs for future events, and any excess Custom ★ Power-Ups can be exchanged for items in the Exchange Items menu.

Replay and Refine Your Academy Event Experience

Players can replay the Academy Event as many times as they wish, with each experience resetting your Academy Sync Pair’s upgrades. This offers the flexibility to experiment with different strategies and area info to build the ideal Sync Pair. Striving for an A rank will unlock a special story after the final exam, providing additional motivation to refine your team.

At the conclusion of the event, players will choose which Sync Grid to retain. The In-Training Grid can only be used during Academy Events, while the Completed Grid will carry over into regular battles. This decision allows players to customize their Sync Pairs according to their preferences and battle strategies.

Trial Battles for Decision Making

Trial Battles provide an opportunity to test your Sync Grids before making a final decision. Accessible from the rank confirmation screen on subsequent playthroughs, these battles allow you to evaluate the effectiveness of your grids in a competitive setting. This can be particularly helpful in determining which upgrades best suit your play style.

Log-In Bonuses and Special Offers

To celebrate the launch of the Academy Event, players can take advantage of a log-in bonus that runs twice during the event. The log-in bonuses include various rewards such as Stamina and Gems, encouraging players to engage with the event regularly. The first log-in bonus period occurs from August 4, 2025, to August 11, 2025, followed by a second period from August 11, 2025, to August 18, 2025.

In addition to log-in bonuses, players can purchase special bundles, including Brendan (Academy)’s Gym Emote, which adds a fun element to the gameplay.

Important Participation Notes

To participate in the Academy Event, players must have completed Main Story Chapter 1: The More the Merrier (Normal) in single-player mode. This requirement ensures that all players have a foundational understanding of the game mechanics before diving into the Academy challenges.

With all these exciting features and opportunities, players are encouraged to fully immerse themselves in the Academy Event Best Buddies Program. From strengthening Sync Pairs to exploring exclusive narratives, there’s no shortage of adventure and excitement in Pokémon Masters EX. Get ready to train, battle, and create memories in the vibrant world of Pasio Academy!
