Niantic is consistently unveiling new events and content for Pokémon GO, keeping the excitement alive for Trainers. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming April 2025 Community Day.
April 2025 Community Day: Featuring Vanillite
On April 27, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, Trainers will have the unique opportunity to catch Vanillite, an Ice-type Pokémon from the Unova region, known as the Fresh Snow Pokémon. This event promises to be an exciting time for Trainers, as Vanillite will appear more frequently in the wild. Furthermore, Trainers who evolve Vanillish—Vanillite’s first evolution—prior to May 4, 2025, at 10:00 p.m. local time will receive a Vanilluxe equipped with the powerful Charged Attack, Avalanche.
Exciting Community Day Bonuses
During this Community Day, don’t miss out on the fantastic bonuses that Niantic has in store:
- Triple XP for capturing Pokémon, giving you a significant boost in experience points.
- Double Candy for catching Pokémon, making it easier to stockpile resources for future evolutions.
- Trainers at level 31 and above will have a twofold chance to receive Candy XL from capturing Pokémon.
- All Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours, enhancing your chances of encountering Vanillite.
- Similarly, Incense (with the exception of Daily Adventure Incense) activated during this period will also last for three hours.
- You can make one additional Special Trade, allowing for a total of two trades during the event time.
- Trading will require 50% less Stardust, making it easier to exchange Pokémon with friends.
Themed Field Research and Timed Research
As part of the Community Day festivities, Trainers will encounter themed Field Research tasks that involve catching Vanillite to earn various rewards. These rewards can include Stardust, Great Balls, and additional encounters with Vanillite. Some lucky Trainers might even uncover Field Research that leads to encounters with Vanillite featuring a special Might and Mastery-themed background.
To further amplify the excitement, Timed Research will also be available. Log in at any point during the event to access this Timed Research, which will culminate in an encounter with a Vanillite that has a Might and Mastery-themed Special Background. Remember, this Timed Research must be completed, and rewards must be claimed by May 4, 2025, at 10:00 p.m. local time.
Special Research Ticket
For a fee of $2.00 (or the equivalent in your local currency), Trainers can purchase access to the Community Day exclusive Special Research. Completing this Special Research will offer even more rewards, including:
- Three encounters with Vanillite featuring a Might and Mastery-themed Special Background.
- Additional encounters with Vanillite.
- One Premium Battle Pass.
- One Rare Candy XL.
- And additional surprise rewards!
Tickets for the Special Research will be available soon, and it’s important to note that Trainers can purchase these tickets as gifts for friends they’ve reached a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher with. To gift a ticket, simply tap on the Special Research ticket in the in-game shop and select the Gift button.
Community Day Special Background Timed Research
The fun doesn’t end with the Community Day event itself. Trainers can look forward to a Timed Research opportunity that will last for a week following the event. Those who log in during the April Community Day will receive Timed Research that rewards an encounter with a Vanillite with a Might and Mastery-themed Special Background. Completing these tasks will also enhance your chances of encountering a Shiny Vanillite.
Don’t forget that you can evolve Vanillish during the week following the event to obtain a Vanilluxe that knows the Charged Attack Avalanche. Be sure to complete the Timed Research tasks and claim your rewards before Saturday, May 4, 2025, at 10:00 p.m. local time.
Event Bundles and PokéStop Showcases
As part of the April Community Day festivities, Trainers will have access to two Community Day bundles. The first bundle, priced at 1,350 PokéCoins, includes 50 Ultra Balls, five Super Incubators, one Elite Charged TM, and five Lucky Eggs. The second bundle, available for 480 PokéCoins, contains 30 Ultra Balls, one Incense, three Super Incubators, and one Lure Module. Make sure to check the in-game shop to grab these bundles while they last!
Additionally, keep an eye out for PokéStop Showcases during the Vanillite Community Day. These showcases will add an extra layer of excitement to your gameplay experience.
Connecting with Other Trainers
If you’re on the lookout for fellow Trainers to team up with for trades, battles, or raids during Community Day, be sure to utilize the Community Day map. This feature will help you find Community Ambassador events and local parks, which are popular gathering spots for Trainers. Community Ambassadors are supported by Niantic to host Pokémon GO events in their communities. If there are no Community Ambassadors in your area, you can also use the Campfire app to discover other meetups nearby.
The parks highlighted on the Community Day map are historically favored locations for Trainers to come together during Community Day. These venues can provide a fun and engaging environment to enjoy gameplay alongside fellow Trainers while relishing the great outdoors.
