Crunchyroll has unveiled the nominees for the eighth edition of its Anime Awards, an event that stands out as the most significant awards ceremony dedicated to celebrating the artistry and craftsmanship of Japanese animation. This program honors a diverse array of creators, musicians, and performers across both streaming platforms and theatrical releases. As part of the experience, fans can now visit the Anime Awards website to cast their votes in various categories, with the complete list of nominees readily available for exploration.

In addition to the nominees, Crunchyroll has announced an exciting lineup of presenters for the live ceremony and the pre-show, which returns to Tokyo for its second year with an enhanced format. During the pre-show, hosts from Crunchyroll, along with global presenters, will announce a variety of fan-favorite awards. The current roster of presenters for the live ceremony and pre-show includes an impressive array of personalities:

  • Megan Thee Stallion: A three-time Grammy Award-winning artist known for her philanthropic efforts and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Iman Vellani: An award-winning actress recognized for her roles in "Ms. Marvel" and "The Marvels."
  • LiSA: A celebrated Japanese singer-songwriter famous for her iconic anime theme songs.
  • Roland: A prominent Japanese nightclub host, entrepreneur, and television personality.
  • Aquaria: An American fashion model, drag performer, and international DJ, who gained fame as the winner of Season 10 of "RuPaul’s Drag Race" and is a passionate supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and anime culture.
  • Che Lingo: A British artist known for blending various music genres in his works.
  • Lena Lemon: A content creator specializing in anime, cosplay, and gaming.
  • Yaeji: An artist and producer whose introspective dance tracks have garnered her global recognition.
  • Ylona Garcia: A singer originally from the Philippines and raised in Australia.

Megan Thee Stallion expressed her enthusiasm for the event, saying, "Watching anime is one of my favorite things to do! I love cosplaying all of my favorite characters, I love the storytelling, and I love getting inspiration from the different anime art styles! I’m really excited for the opportunity to attend and present an award at this year’s Crunchyroll Anime Awards. I’m looking forward to traveling to Tokyo and joining my fellow anime lovers as we celebrate and honor the best anime creators and shows in the world."

LiSA also shared her thoughts, stating, "Beyond time and borders, anime allows us to connect and be touched, be excited, and share the same emotions with others, regardless of age or values. Anime has the same potential and appeals that I feel towards music. I hope the wonderful Japanese anime continues to bring joy to many fans around the world. I consider anime to be one of the cultures that represent Japan, so I am very honored to be chosen as the presenter."

Kenichiro Yoshida, the Chairman and CEO of Sony Group Corporation, will once again deliver the opening remarks at the live ceremony, which will be hosted by voice actress Sally Amaki and entertainer Jon Kabira. Rahul Purini, President of Crunchyroll, stated, "With more than 30 anime studios, 5 streaming platforms, 50 series and films, and over 50 voice actors, the nominees for the Crunchyroll Anime Awards represent the world-class creatives powering the global love of anime. In honor of this year’s nominees, Crunchyroll is making a selection of the nominated series available for streaming on AVOD, starting today. Fans who wish to engage with these celebrated shows can access them for free with ads until March 2. The nominated series will be available for viewing on AVOD worldwide, depending on regional availability.

Voting for the Anime Awards is currently open and will continue until January 28 at 7:59 GMT. Fans are encouraged to vote daily, with the new one-click revoting feature making it even easier to support their favorites. The winners will be announced at the 2024 Anime Awards live ceremony on March 2, which will also be streamed globally.
